Keynote speakers
Dr. Devotha Godfrey Nyambo is a Senior Lecturer at the Nelson Mandela African Institution of Science and Technology (NM-AIST), Tanzania, and the Founder and Executive Director of the Sustainable CommunityTech Alliance (ComTech Alliance), an NGO registered in Tanzania working at the intersection of communities and applications of digital tech. She is a UNESCO-L'Oréal Young Talent Laureate, Mandela Washington Fellowships Alumna 2024, and AWARD 2014 Laureate, recognised for her leadership in applying artificial intelligence and digital innovations to agriculture, environmental sustainability, and public health. At NM-AIST, she teaches courses related to Machine Learning, Data Science/Mining, and Database Systems and Technologies. She is leading several research on applications of AI and complexity sciences, with a strong focus on community-centred solutions. Her work bridges scientific research and grassroots impact, empowering rural communities through inclusive technologies that address pressing challenges in food security, climate resilience, and health.
Vincent Martin, a veterinary doctor and holder of a PhD in agricultural sciences and biological engineering, is the Director of the FAO Innovation Office, where he oversees the operationalisation of the Organisation's science and innovation strategy. With 30 years of international experience, he has dedicated his career to transforming food systems and promoting scientific and innovative approaches to addressing sustainable development challenges. Prior to this position, he served as United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Republic of Guinea, FAO Representative in China, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and Senegal, and Coordinator for health and food crises in Africa and Asia. He has led numerous national, regional and global initiatives in food security, global health and innovation for development. |
